Book of Mormon Class

We are excited to announce the start of a new monthly activity for any sister to participate in.  We will be launching a Book of Mormon Class beginning January 8th at 7pm.  This will be held at Terri Bartnett’s home and she will be the leader/teacher.   It will be held every 2nd Thursday of the month.

This is an exciting way for you to read the Book of Mormon this year and have an opportunity to discuss things that stand out to you, as well as solidify the thoughts and feelings you had while you read.  It will be conducted with a “book club” type format, but we will use the Seminary student manual as a guide.

So, if you feel like you would like to read along with other sisters this year, and have an opportunity to share your thoughts and feelings about the Book of Mormon, plan to make this a part of your month.

The following outline will be followed so that we can complete the Book of Mormon in a year:

o   January:            Title Page/ JS History

o   February:           Ether

o   March:               1 Nephi

o   April:                 2 Nephi

o   May:                  Jacob

o   June:                 Enos, Jarom, Omni, Words of Mormon, Mosiah

o   July:                  Alma 1-42

o   August:              Alma 43-63

o   September:        Helaman

o   October:             3 Nephi, 4 Nephi

o   November:         Mormon

o   December:         Moroni

One goal for having this class is in helping each one of us become more spiritually prepared.  As we make regular scripture reading a consistent part of our lives, we will find our spiritual reservoirs become full.  In speaking of becoming spiritually prepared, Henry B Eyring recently said:

“That preparation must be started far in advance because it takes time. What we will need then can’t be bought. It can’t be borrowed. It doesn’t store well. And it has to have been used regularly and recently.

What we will need in our day of testing is a spiritual preparation. It is to have developed faith in Jesus Christ so powerful that we can pass the test of life upon which everything for us in eternity depends. That test is part of the purpose God had for us in the Creation.”

Henry B Eyring

We hope to see you there!!
